I have known people who used to say,
You’d be pretty only if you put on some weight
And that too, only if you had your hair straight
I have dated someone who could be surer on days
when my liner and lipstick were perfectly
And mostly when I behaved in a certain way.
But each atom in my body is so rigidly placed,
That it refuses to shake
And become the way others want me to be
Because these expectations are never-ending, truly.
Things will change the very next day
And this is what this quarantine is teaching us today,
That the world will always be too much for us
And that, things will not go as planned
But being happy all on our own,
Is the only thing we must aspire to be,
Rest everything will anyway keep changing everyday!
